Our program is designed for parents who are getting financial assistance to get diapers and help a family after them get diapers too. A Pay It Forward.
Once upon a time there was a dear friend of mine who was choosing between food for her family and buying diapers for her baby. A woman on her local Craigslist.org saw her public outcry for help and gave her a small stash of used cloth diapers. When I had my baby and was trying to stay home with him as long as possible, she passed those same diapers on to me. A Pay It Forward.
I loved this concept and wanted to keep it going. As the owner of Lovely Eco Chic, a diaper rental program designed to save moms from the huge start up costs of diapering, I have met some great people who run diaper banks. The waiting lists for these diaper banks are sometimes over 2 years long. Besides donating our rental returns to these banks, I though to myself "I can do more!"
Paying It Forward... I have set up the first 3 diaper sets. Each set includes two covers and 24 prefolds and/or inserts. I am asking that you provide proof you are receiving assistance of any type by the government or a public service. We will then send you a package of diapers. In return, you agree that over the next 6 months you will contribute $5.00 a month (yes, that is less than the cost of one package of cheap store brand disposables!). The money collected will be used to pay for the next family's set of diapers. The diapers are yours to keep..... but I ask that you consider paying forward this blessing when you are done, and pass the diapers on to another mom in need.
